Differences Between Two Author - Essay Example igh school clinics saw around 150 cases of sexually transmitted diseases like condyloma, chlamydia, and the better-known gonorrhea and syphilisâ⬠(Quindlen). Although Quindlen supports the practice of free discussion between parents and young people concerning sex and the value of abstinence, many families have unfortunately took the matter for granted. She cites the case of a ââ¬Å"girl who broke her leg jumping out an apartment window because her mother found her birth control pills, seized her by the throat and said, according to the kid, ââ¬ËI brought you into the world; I can take you out of itââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Quindlen). On the other hand, conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh took a firm stand against the distribution of condoms in public schools by stressing the values of celibacy. He asserts that parents have a responsibility to protect their children from unsafe sex. Thus, to prove his point, he came up with questions such as ââ¬Å"doesnt it make sense to be honest with kids and tell them the best thing they can do to avoid AIDS or any of the other undesirable consequences is to abstain from sexual intercourse?â⬠(Limbaugh) Limbaugh argues that providing young people with condoms is somehow giving them a free pass that it is perfectly acceptable to have sex at their age ââ¬â something that he believes is causing the skewed ââ¬Å"moral and ethical directionsâ⬠(Limbaugh) that American kids have been following. He further argues by questioning the liberalsââ¬â¢ assumption that young people will simply have sex regardless of how theyââ¬â¢re educated. Sarcastically, he points out that ââ¬Å"kids are going to smoke, too, we cant stop them, so lets provide packs of low-tar cigarettes to the students for their after-sex smokeâ⬠(Limbaugh). The fact is that the positions taken by both commentators are rooted in good intentions, but more importantly, in reality. Limbaugh is right to emphasize the role of parents in the sexual education of their children. Parents should be more

Dissertation Proposal to be done on same topic as other proposals and Essay
Dissertation Proposal to be done on same topic as other proposals and previous orders - Essay Example In this way, this study leans towards the end goal of making high school special education students stay in school. Receiving a high school diploma is extremely important to an Americanââ¬â¢s chances at achieving professional success. This is because Americansââ¬â¢ financial stability and professional achievement have always been mostly dependent on the education they have received (Shore, 2003). Higher education is something that highly enhances the number of opportunities one receives in the professional world and a high school diploma is almost always a prerequisite in being able to climb up the ladder to career success. This fact is augmented by the increasingly competitive market and the ongoing recession that has made getting job a lot harder. As a result, high school dropouts are faced with the negative ramifications of noncompletion throughout the rest of their lives, which includes unemployment and even a prison sentence as they might confront their financial difficulties with criminal activities (Rumberger, 2003). This contributes to ââ¬Å"a pattern of increased economic marginal ization for those Americans with the least educationâ⬠(Shore, 2003). Dropping out à ¾f high Ã'â¢chool restricts oneÃ'⢠options à °nd labor market opportunities in an economic climate that is becoming more and more advanced and comples; hence, high school noncompletion prompts serious negative conÃ'â¢equenceÃ'⢠for both thà µ individual à °nd Ã'â¢ociety in termÃ'⢠à ¾f financial ability and future productivity (Ãâ¦trothà µr, 2006). These negative ramifications of high school noncompletion are further augmented when it comes to students with disabilities as their disabilities already act as a hindrance that closes many doors of opportunities. Furthermore, statistics show that the dropout rates of special education high school students are at least double and at the most triple that of regular students (Blackorby and Wagner, 2006; deBettencourt, Zigmond and Thornton,

Poland Springs Advertisement Campaign Failure Essay Example for Free
Poland Springs Advertisement Campaign Failure Essay Poland Springââ¬â¢s recent advertisement puts its viewers in a serene natural environment; a nice sunny day overlooking a crystal clear spring on a green field. In the center of this field is a giant plastic bottle, one that is ââ¬Å"environmentally friendly.â⬠The bottle is praised and pointed out for using ââ¬Å"less plastic,â⬠ââ¬Å"less paper,â⬠and the very important ââ¬Å"dye-free cap.â⬠The bottle is called the ââ¬Å"Eco-Shaped bottleâ⬠and is designed to have less impact on the earth. The entire scene is under the giant caption that tells of how Poland Spring is doing ââ¬Å"lessâ⬠to the environment. The company is selling water in a disposable plastic bottle yet the advertisement seems to be trying to convince people that by consuming their disposable product they are some how helping the environment; that because they drink Poland Spring water they are doing ââ¬Å"less to the environment. This advertising strategy however is not uncommon. According to Julia B. Corbett ââ¬Å" ââ¬Ëgreen advertisingââ¬â¢ has focused on ads that promote environmental sensitivity towardâ⬠¦ a corporate image of environmental sensitivityâ⬠(Corbett 148). The recent ad campaign may seen to be about Poland Springââ¬â¢s new ââ¬Å"Eco-Shapedâ⬠bottle, but it is really about diverting attention from the pollution the bottle generates to instead creating a pro-environmental view of the company and its product. The Eco-Shaped bottle by Poland Spring is marketed with a few selling points the company points out directly in their advertisement. The bottle uses ââ¬Å"30% less plasticâ⬠, ââ¬Å"less paperâ⬠and a ââ¬Å"dye-free capâ⬠. These improvements areà better for the environment then the original bottle used by Poland Spring. However the problem lies in the fact that the product is still harmful to the environment. Last time I checked less of a bad thing is still a bad thing. According a recent article by Hope Molinaro, the California Department of Conservation (CDOC) stated, ââ¬Å"in California, more than a billion plastic water bottles wind up in the trash each yearâ⬠and that total is only the amount of bottles in the state of California (Molinaro, 64). The total amount equates to 3 million empty water bottles per day disposed of in just one state (Molinaro, 64). That large amount of plastic has many detrimental effects to the environment. The materials used to make the bottles consist of a tremendous amount of resources and are difficult to dispose of if not recycled. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence to make the claim that a good portion of the plastic bottle waste generated in the United States is produced by the Poland Spring Company. Not only is the plastic filling our landfills, but there is evidence that the water bottle company is polluting its own town. According to a 2008 study of pollution demographics of Androscoggin County in Maine, where Poland Springââ¬â¢s headquarters is located, the particulate matter is 62% higher there than the United States average (Unknown). Itââ¬â¢s also 61% higher then the state of Maineââ¬â¢s average particulate matter found (Unknown). Particulate matter is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets. Particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids (such as nitrates and sulfates), organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles. Poland Springââ¬â¢s advertisement does not show any of this particulate matter when depicting how green and lush the springs it gets its water from are. One aspect of the Poland Springââ¬â¢s advertisement that I find different and contradictory to traditional green thinking is that in the ad the plastic Poland Spring water bottle, is shown in nature. Normally when a plastic water bottle is found laying in a field or any natural setting for that matter, it is viewed upon as pollution. In this ad the bottle is sitting in nature and is supposed to be appealing to the human eye. The bottle is shown in a way that it blends into the natural setting and tries to convince people that it almost belongs there, in the midst of nature; that theà unnatural belongs with the natural. It is easy to relate the bottle as being positive to the environment however as it blends in with the incredible sunrise in the background on a beautiful day with a clear sky. The bottle is featured sitting in a field where the growth of the field is doing outstanding and there is not one dead or even one imperfectly grown plant. The land is doing so well it is almost portrayed as being happy and at peace with a giant, unnatural, plastic water bottle sticking out of it. This scene does not just occur in the ad however as pollution is a huge issue when there is a ââ¬Å"disposableâ⬠factor to the product. A second contradiction in the ad is that Poland Spring is a water bottle company whose ad features more lush, green field then the body of water in which their product comes from. The ad is trying to make the product fall into the American consumers mind as a green product hence the green field is more affective then a view of the lake or spring containing the water Poland Spring is selling. Poland Spring is really trying to hammer in the point that itââ¬â¢s product is green and eco-friendly, and the more green in the picture the more green the consumer sees. Contradiction number three this ad uses is the slogan that titles it. In the current green revolution sweeping across America the constant theme is doing more for the environment. Under Poland Springs fancy, flower-laden font reads the words ââ¬Å"doing lessâ⬠. This is a clear indication that Poland Spring is not being beneficial to the environment by saying they are ââ¬Å"doing lessâ⬠harm to the planet we live on. Over the serene sunset, over laying the clear blue sky, and lush green field, lies an admission of pollution and guilt by the company. Poland Springââ¬â¢s methods however are not so uncommon in todayââ¬â¢s advertising market. Many advertising campaigns are seen now featuring nature in one way or another and one of the more common ways to do this is through and advertisements backdrop. According to Julia B. Corbett, ââ¬Å"Using nature merely as a backdrop whether in the form of wild animals, mountain vistas or sparkling rivers-is the most common use of the natural world in advertisements.â⬠(Corbett 150) So when Poland Spring sets itââ¬â¢s water bottle in the green field, with little purple flowers swaying in the wind, the peaceful sunset over looking the bluest clear sky the world has to offer,à followed by beautiful green hills rolling off to the distance there is a purpose to it. The purpose according to Julia could be that the company is trying to promote a ââ¬Å"corporate image of environmental responsibility.â⬠(Corbett 148) This is very well one if not the main initiative of the advertisement and it is even so less of an advertisement as it is a rebuttal. Recently, as our country starts to become more ââ¬Å"greenâ⬠and environmentally aware, there has been some recent campaigns against the consumption of bottled water. One major campaign against bottled water has been ââ¬Å"Think outside the bottleâ⬠. Even the mayor of Miami, Manny Diaz along with a dozen or so mayors, is calling on municipal governments to phase out bottled-water purchases in a resolution to be presented at the U.S. Mayors Conference (Barnes). Poland Spring is trying to distract the average consumer from believing the hype that the bottle are bad for the environment and tries to prove that they are doing something about it. Poland Springââ¬â¢s advertisement is focusing on green aspects of its product and is trying to make the company appear to have a green initiative, however the Poland Springââ¬â¢s target audience is not the hardcore environmentalist. Any person who puts some research into what they buy and cares about the environment is going to know that consumption of disposable plastic water bottles is not going to help the environment. The ad however does target the average consumer who does sort of care about the environment but does not research into what they consume. A consumer might see the recent anti-water bottle campaigns and generate a negative view of the disposable, plastic water bottles that Poland Spring sells. That is why Poland Springââ¬â¢s ad was created in the first place, to turn the average consumerââ¬â¢s view of the water bottle and the Poland Spring Company from a negative one to a positive one. In times of environmental awareness that the United States is currently facing, many unenvironmentally friendly companies are finding it harder and harder to promote sales for their products. Poland Spring is no different in that respect but tries a different approach that is gaining in popularity, green advertising. Poland Spring uses nature to show a pristine and beautiful backdrop for their hazardous product. The ad is focusing on deterring the publicââ¬â¢s view of Poland Spring from environmentally damagingà to environmentally caring. As shady and undermining the ad is to not only the people but the earth its self, the ad creates a pro-environmental image of a company that does not practice what is preaches. The Macroeconomic Concept Of The Multiplier Economics Essay
The Macroeconomic Concept Of The Multiplier Economics Essay Currently, Chinas economic is growing rapidly. Living standard of the people has improved and urban rural income has substantially improved. The balance of the household shaving is increasing year by year and china has maintained a high saving rate. The marginal propensity of consume trend to drop, which is extremely unfavorable for the future development of the country economy and it will directly affect the growth rate of GDP. So, all this will become fetters in the process of the development of the economic. In this paper, I will evaluate the extent to which a thorough understanding of the macroeconomic concept of the multiplier would help government to manage their own macro economy. Macroeconomic Macroeconomists study aggregated indicators such as GDP, unemployment rates, and price indices to understand how the whole economy functions. (Burda Wyplose,2005) Macroeconomists develop models that explain the relationship between factors such as national income, output, consumption, unemployment, inflation, savings, investment, international trade and international finance. In contrast, microeconomics is primarily focused on the actions of individual agents, such as firms and consumers, and how their behavior determines prices and quantities in specific markets. (Sloman, 2006) While macroeconomics is a broad field of study, there are two areas of research that are emblematic of the discipline: the attempt to understand the causes and consequences of short-run fluctuations (Griffiths Wall, 2008) in national income (the business cycle), and the attempt to understand the determinants of long-run economic growth (increases in national income). 3. Macroeconomic Multiplier theory Macro-economic multiplier theory is based on marginal propensity to consume by the British economist J.M. Keynes, which explains the relationship of multiples theory between investment and income. The Keynesian multiplier theory is an extension of the field in the international balance of payments, in terms of constant exchange rates and price. It analyzes that income adjustment play a role in the international balance of payments. Its basic content is that investment change brings the impact to the total national income greater than the investment itself, such as a change is often a multiple of the investment changes. (Sloman Wride, 2006). As economic sectors are interrelated, so an investment in a particular sector will not only increase the income of this sector, but also cause a chain reaction in the various sectors in the national economy, thereby increasing investment and income of other sectors, increase of multiplier the national income exponentially. In fact, the multiplier formula simply gives the multiplier as the inverse of the marginal propensity to withdraw (mpw): K=1/mpw. (Sloman, 2006:464). (Show below figure1-3) Figure 1: The multiplier: a shift in injections (Source: Sloman Wride 2006:488) Multiplier à ¼Ã à ¢-à ³Y/à ¢-à ³J à ¼Ã à ¢-à ³Y/à ¢-à ³W à ¼Ã (cà ¼Ã a)/(bà ¼Ã c) Figure 2: The multiplier: a shift in withdrawals (Source: Sloman Wride 2006:488) Multiplier à ¼Ã à ¢-à ³Y/à ¢-à ³W à ¼Ã (cà ¼Ã a)/(aà ¼Ã b) Figure 3: The multiplier: a shift in the expenditure function (Source: Sloman Wride 2006:489) Multiplier à ¼Ã à ¢-à ³Y/à ¢-à ³J à ¼Ã (cà ¼Ã a)/(bà ¼Ã a) 4. The current macroeconomic situation in China Presently, China is facing the most severe situation since the Asian financial crisis, which is the most difficult time of the economic development since the new century. In terms of the entitative economy, China is the one of the country in this round of financial crisis which is affected hardly. The industrial sector, energy and raw material sectors and the real estate sector have large impact in this financial crisis. à ¼Ãâ China country review, 2008à ¼Ã¢â¬ °. From the fourth season in 2008, Chinas economic development problems start to show their impact as a result Industrial production and exports are declined, unemployment increased. From judgments of the countrys economic situation, the Government fully recognized the seriousness of the economy and from the macroeconomics of the multiplier made the measures to following: 4.1. Augment the multiplier to achieve increase in national income In the short term, we can be augmenting the multiplier to achieve increase in national income i.e. raise the marginal propensity to consume and reduce the marginal propensity to save. At present, Chinas savings continue to increase and reached about 15 trillion Yuan, so there is a large potential of consumption. In this situation, the government application of the macroeconomics of the multiplier stimulates consumption. (Wilkinson, 2005:477) .Such as: Reduce the bank deposit interest rates and the collection of interest on income tax; energetically develop tourism, improving holiday economy; improve the minimum subsistence level, increase laid-off workers and retirees personnel subsidies; Appropriately reduce tax on consumption of the general goods, at the same time assess high tax on consumption goods of special. For example, economic crisis havent just affected the issue of workers to return home, but also opportunities of employment. Survey show that from 2002 to 2007, there was an average increase of 5.6% in the migrant workers in the first half, but last year the amount of this growth was only 1.6%, about 4 % poorer than usual.(China Develop Institute 2008) By using multiplier theory, if you make a simple projection, (Wilkinson, 2005:144). i.e. 4 percentages is equivalent to 5.4 million people, these people should be roughly equivalent to the group of migrant workers who should have working out but lost the opportunities in the economic crisis situation. If we add the unemployed people to return home early in this year, this group of people (accounting for 15% of migrant workers) are about 25 million migrant workers who lost their jobs or jobs opportunities due to economic crisis. 4.2. Augment investment to achieve increase in the national income In the long term, the marginal propensity to consume in a steady state, then the multiplier is fixed, so we need to increase investment and improve the national income. (Voyles, 2009) In China, the government makes a lot of policy and adjust fiscal policy and monetary policy, adopted a proactive fiscal policy and appropriately loose monetary policy. There are production, consumption, investment, exports in various field, etc. Now, the state has invested 4 trillion Yuan (China Develop Institute, 2009) in railroad this year and next year, which will stimulate domestic demand. By 4 trillion Yuan package of investment programs, the central government invested 540 billion in this year. But there are 160 billion investments in the original budget this year, so after adjusting for new investments in the State this year was only 380 billion. If the multiplier effect is 1:3, then the central government can bring up more than 1 billion investments. Thereforeà ¼Ã
âGovernment expending is an important source by way of investment, which play an important role in the direction of investment and optimization the investment structure. 4.3. Export expansion to achieve increase in the national income China is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges since joined WTO, we must seized the opportunity and integrate with the international economy, improve the structure of export products and increase the proportion of high value-added exports, improve terms of trade, through external trade bring out the rapid development of the national economy to increase national income. In recent years, the contribution of export in Chinese economics growth rate is around 20% (China Develop Institute, 2009), and now we have to compensate the sharp decline in exports by investment and consumption demand. By using multiplier theory, If the export growth rate is measured by the level of 10%, then the investment growth rate reach to 10% and 2 trillion Yuan of domestic investment and demand-pull may be achieved in the same year. In general, to maintain a GDP growth rate of 8%; if exports rate this year is 6%, it is very difficult to reach 8%, if it rely on 2 trillion domestic investment and demand-pull; if the exports this year have zero-growth, it is absolutely impossible if they rely on 2 trillion domestic investment and demand-pull to achieve 8%. 5. Drawbacks of the Multiplier theory 5.1. Ignores the time lags In the Keynesian multiplier theory, investment, consumption, national income etc all of them are liquidity and change over time. The number of the increase can only be compared with the different periods of the same length. The increase in the periods of different length cannot be explained by using this theory. The Multiplier theory ignore the time lags discuss the flow of change that it is meaningless. (Sloman, 2006:475) For example, in last year, Chinas export was increased to 17%, where textile products have negative growth rate. Relatively, mechanical and electrical products had grown with a high growth rate. But now, it has begun to enter in the difficult term. Last year, Chinas export of electromechanical products maintained a positive growth, as order form have a longer period for machinery and electronic products and as a impact of the time lags shrinking foreign order forms were fewer and start to increase on lay-off of the mechanical and electrical products manufacturing. 5.2. Ignore the difference of the capital flows and capital stocks The multiplier can only exist in stock of the flow, such as money, loans, stock and so on. The multiplier can not exist in the capital flows (McAleese 2004:471), such as investment, consumption, demand, income, etc. and it cannot be extended to the flow of money. For example, recently, China Eastern Airlines exposed that the gas has a loss of 6.8 billion Yuan and CITIC Pacific has lost 200 million Yuan. (China Develop Institute, 2009). The amount lost by companies is huge, due to the misleading by Multiplier theory. According to estimate, so far Chinas financial institutions and enterprises has been loss of approximately 2 trillion Yuan in the overseas investment .Therefore, we can not focus only on the production and GDP growth. 6. Conclusion Keyness multiplier theory is an important component of the system macro-economic theory. But multiplier theory has some drawback, as it ignores the distinction between capital flows and capital stock, ignores the factor of the time lags and led to wrong conclusions. In this situation, where saving are high and consumption is less, application of the Keyness multiplier theory manage the country own macroeconomic. Firstly, through improving the social security system and consummate pension, unemployed, market of the medical insurance and the building of housing accumulation fund. Secondly, Growth accelerated from the current investment in China, demand has increased. Implementation of a positive fiscal policy and increased investment is necessary. The government needs to extend the consumption. Finally, In terms of the export tax rebate rate not high, the government can be used promptly refund in full rebate solution to bring part of the cash flow difficult problem for lag of the export tax rebate. In terms of the export credit, the government makes to encourage measures and to expand exports. Meanwhile, the active use of WTO preferential policies for developing countries to expand exports, optimize the export product mix, improved condition of th e trade.

Flood in Epic of Gilgamish and Book of Genesis of the Holy Bible Essay

Change Foreign Policy to Win the War on Terrorism :: Politics Political Essays
There are many advocacy groups that have long been doing important good works in the international arena, but on issues that have not officially been seen as being a proper part of foreign policy: the environment, human rights, women's rights, the condition of children, labor, international public health issues (e.g., AIDS in Africa), sustainable development, refugees, international education, and so on. The metaphors that foreign policy experts have used to define what foreign policy is rules out these important concerns. Those metaphors involve self-interest (e.g., the Rational Actor Model), stability (a physics metaphor), industrialization (unindustrialized nations are "underdeveloped"), and trade (freedom is free trade). I would like to propose an alternative way of thinking about foreign policy under which all these issues would become a natural part of what foreign policy is about. The premise is that, when international relations work smoothly, it is because certain moral norms of the international community are being followed. This mostly goes unnoticed, since those norms are usually followed. We notice problems when those norms are breached. Given this, it makes sense that foreign policy should be centered around those norms. The moral norms I suggest come out of what I called in Moral Politics "nurturant morality." It is a view of ethical behavior that centers on (a) empathy and (b) responsibility (for both yourself and others needing your help). Many things follow from these central principles: fairness, minimal violence (e.g., justice without vengeance), an ethic of care, protection of those needing it, a recognition of interdependence, cooperation for the common good, the building of community, mutual respect, and so on. When applied to foreign policy, nurturant moral norms would lead the American government to uphold the ABM treaty, sign the Kyoto accords, engage in a form of globalization governed by an ethics of care-and it would automatically make all the concerns listed above (e.g., the environment, women's rights) part of our foreign policy. This, of course, implies (a) multilateralism, (b) interdependence, and (c) international cooperation. But these three principles, without nurturant norms, can equally well apply to the Bush administration's continuance of its foreign policy. Bush's foreign policy, as he announced in the election campaign, has been one of self-interest ("what's in the best interest of the United States")-if not outright hegemony (the Cheney/Rumsfeld position). The Democratic leaders incorrectly criticized Bush for being isolationist and unilateralist, on issues like the Kyoto accords and the ABM Treaty.
AMD vs Intel
Of all the corporate names playing in the personal computer (PC) hardware market, no two companies are arguably as well-known as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel Corporation. That these two names are synonymous with personal computing is not surprising as these two companies manufacture the sheer majority of the microprocessors which are at the core of a consumer PC.In 2008, Intel had a 76.7% market share of the general purpose microprocessor market (which includes desktop and server processors) to AMDââ¬â¢s 23.1% (Shilov, 2008). While Intel outsells AMD 3-to-1, the two companies combined ship 99.8% of the worldââ¬â¢s desktop and server processors. Both Intel and AMD were founded from former employees of Fairchild Semiconductor. Intel was created in 1968 by Fairchild Engineers Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore while AMD was founded in 1969 by former Fairchild Executive Jerry Sanders and his team of employees (Singer, 2005). Today, AMD has quarterly revenues of $1.7 billion and In tel has yearly revenues of nearly $40 billion. While both known for their processor products, both AMD and Intel started out manufacturing memory chips. All of this changed in 1971 when Intel developed its 4004 ââ¬â a chip designed for Japanese company Busicom to be used in their line of calculators. The 4004 chip integrated the following components ââ¬â 16 registers for holding data, a program counter to keep track of execution, an arithmetic logic unit to perform numerical computations, a decoder for instructions, and a clock to keep its processes synchronized.Together, these components allowed the single 4004 chip to decode instructions stored in external memory, instructions which could contain any number of numerical computations that the 4004 could execute. By designing a programmed flow of instructions, the 4004 could be used to perform any number of tasks, not only the calculations needed by Busicomââ¬â¢s calculators. This made the 4004 Intelââ¬â¢s, and consequent ly, the worldââ¬â¢s first general purpose microprocessor chip (ââ¬Å"Intel's First Microprocessorââ¬âthe Intelà ® 4004â⬠).Intel secured the right from Busicom to market the 4004 as a part of Intelââ¬â¢s product line up. As a standalone microprocessor, the 4004 was the birth of a revolution. Instead of building a computer for every task from scratch, an engineer can simply buy a 4004 chip, a memory chip and write a set of commands for the task at hand.A 4004 can be thought of performing any task which the engineer could program. The 4004 was then followed by the 8008, a more powerful version of the 4004.By 1981, IBM had chosen Intelââ¬â¢s 8088 as the processor to be used in its personal computer products. While the 8088 was the chip, IBM was essentially choosing not the 8088 but Intelââ¬â¢s x86 architecture as the basis for their personal computer family. This was important for two reasons, first because the IBM PC was an open standard. Any company can build a c ompatible machine buy building it from parts which conform to the standard. The typical example is how a RAM module can be plugged out from a DELL machine and be inserted into an HP machine and work fine. Secondly it was because the use of x86 meant that only chips compatible with Intelââ¬â¢s architecture could be used with PCs (ââ¬Å"Intel Corporate Timelineâ⬠).To avoid overdependence on Intel products, IBM demanded that Intel should find a second supplier of chips. Because of this, Intel reaches out to AMD in 1982, giving AMD full access to its 286 chip technology and allowing AMD to manufacture 286 products. Thus in the beginning, AMD could only be thought of as an outsourced manufacturer of Intel processor designs (Singer, 2005).
